Resident Spotlight: Carol King
We are lucky to be called home to so many amazing residents in our community and while some have come from afar, we are home to many local residents, such as Carol King, who we are shining the spotlight on this month. And, we know you are wondering, she’s not THAT Carole King! But they do share a love of music!
Carol King is a native of Celina, Texas. Married to a farmer, Bob King, they raised four children, Julie, Bobby, Jana, and JoEllyn, who were all residents of the area as well into adulthood.
Carol was a music teacher in the McKinney ISD. She played the organ and sang at the First Baptist Church of Celina. She also taught private piano lessons to all ages for more than a decade.
She loves needlepoint, music, and discussing life as a farmer’s wife. Many were the days that she would prepare her husband’s meals, “not sack lunches,” for her beloved Bob as he worked tirelessly in the fields.
Carol is also a lifelong friend and neighbor of Tribute’s Director of Community Relations, LaDonna (Hendricks) Carroll, and visits her office daily to ensure she is behaving! LaDonna claims Carol as a second mom and is still afraid when she sees Carol’s eyebrow raised in disapproval. Carol participates in daily exercise and arts and crafts and is front and center at all musical entertainment.
We are proud to be called home to such a wonderful local gem, enabling her to stay close to all her lifelong friends and family members.
