Engagement Programs

“An intervention without progress is just an activity”

Engaged in Life Again

Activities are designed to keep people “busy”  It’s not enough, nor therapeutic and does not mean a person is engaged in what they are doing.  If you engage with something or someone, you get involved and feel that you are connected and have real contact. We strive to make sure each resident has something that engages them with not only the activity but with other people.

At Tribute we pay attention to what each resident has been passionate about in their lifetime and try to incorporate these items into our programs. Yes, that means our calendar not only has the regular “favorites” but is flexible to accommodate each new resident to engage in the things they love.

Dimensions of Wellness

Tribute Senior Living’s Life Dimensions Program is based on the Seven Dimensions of Wellness. It is designed to provide a lifestyle that is well-balanced and beneficial to each person, based on their own individual choices and needs. Our resident engagement programs are built with this choice and balance in mind and seek to provide what each resident needs to accomplish this life balance.

The Seven Dimensions of Wellness are Social, Emotional, Spiritual, Environmental, Occupational, Intellectual, and Physical Wellness. You can read more about them here. When these are in balance, we thrive.

Below are a few examples of how you can spend your day at Tribute. Check out our calendar for more options.

art

Art

Whether you are an accomplished artist, a passionate amateur, or someone who has never even tried it – art can be a fun and beneficial activity.

Our art classes encourage creativity and help individuals explore their feelings, reduce stress and anxiety, and increase self-esteem. Recent studies are finding seniors who participate in art therapy programs are less likely to experience depression and may even require fewer doctor visits and less medication. Art is not just fun, its therapeutic! We have regularly scheduled artists who both lead classes and participate with our residents.

music

Music

We all have our favorite music, and we love how that special song can bring back memories and make us feel. At Tribute Senior Living, we are taking music to the next level.

Our 22-zone distributed sound system, with variable programming in each zone, will allow a level of enjoyment never before seen in Assisted Living or Memory Support. Our work with TWU’s Music Therapy program and our specialized music programming will provide options for our residents at every level.

The benefits of our therapeutic music options range from increased energy and socialization to relaxation, reduced tension and anxiety, and muscle relaxation. Music can even invoke wonderful memories, increase self-esteem, improve relationships, and increase motivation to be more engaged in life. Yes – music can do all of that!

gardening

Gardening

Ask any gardener about the therapeutic benefits of getting their hands dirty doing what they love.

Tribute Senior Living has a real greenhouse where residents can garden year-round. Studies have shown the therapeutic benefits of gardening, as it is considered one of the best opportunities for many to get exercise, promoting muscle movement, coordination, heart and lung health, and flexibility. Not to mention the fun of growing your own herbs, flowers, and vegetables!

lifetime learning 2

Lifetime Learning

Have you ever said to yourself, “someday I would love to learn more about that?”

At Tribute Senior Living, we offer many ways for residents to learn new things, improve their skills, discover new passions, and even rediscover old ones. These include computer classes, reading, bridge and many other clubs and educational seminars. Having time, encouragement, support, and resources available opens a world of possibilities for our seniors.
