Meet Joy Kuruwnne, Our September Employee of the Month

Tribute Senior Living is built around the dedicated team that cares for our residents every day. Their compassion and willingness to support one another help create a place where residents can feel comfortable, cared for, and truly at home.
This September, we’re proud to recognize someone who brings those qualities to work every day. Meet Joy Kuruwnne, a valued member of our Memory Care team and our September Employee of the Month.
A Heart for Memory Care
Joy works full-time in Memory Care, where her kindness and genuine love for older adults can be seen in everything she does. She is always willing to lend a hand, whether that means supporting a resident, helping a coworker, or stepping in wherever she sees something that needs to be done.
For Joy, teamwork is an important part of providing exceptional care. She believes in noticing what needs attention, pitching in without hesitation, and seeing a task through to completion.
Most importantly, Joy goes the extra mile to help ensure that the residents she cares for are happy, healthy, and supported.
Her favorite part of working at Tribute is the people around her. Joy appreciates the management team’s commitment to treating employees fairly and with respect, and she says Tribute has become a place that truly feels like home.
From Nigeria to Tribute
Joy grew up in Owerri, Nigeria, as the oldest of eight children in a family of six girls and twin boys. Her father was an architect and served as the chief of their community, while her mother was a teacher. As the firstborn and first daughter, Joy was given the title of princess in her community.
Before beginning her caregiving career, Joy spent 15 years working in banking in Nigeria. She served as a customer service manager for eight years before eventually moving into the marketing department.
Although her professional path has taken several turns, helping and connecting with others has remained a constant throughout Joy’s life.
That caring spirit extends beyond her work at Tribute. In her spare time, Joy teaches children ages four to six at her local church, sharing the same patience and encouragement she brings to her work with older adults.
Family, Food, and a Love for Life
Joy remains connected to her Nigerian roots, especially through food. One of her favorite dishes is fufu served with traditional Nigerian soup, and she admits that she sometimes misses the foods she grew up enjoying with her family.
Outside of work, Joy has plenty of interests that keep her active and creative. She loves dancing, running, sewing, traveling, meeting new people, and teaching younger children how to sew.
Whether she is caring for residents, helping a teammate, teaching a child, or exploring somewhere new, Joy brings enthusiasm and a willingness to connect with the people around her.
Simple Advice With a Big Impact
When asked what advice she would give someone beginning a career as a caregiver, Joy keeps it simple: love what you do, remain positive, genuinely care about the people you work with, and always be ready to help when someone needs you.
Joy puts this advice into practice every day.
At Tribute Senior Living, we know meaningful care begins with people who truly care about others. Joy’s compassion, positive attitude, and commitment to teamwork reflect the kind of community we strive to create for our residents, families, and team members.
We’re grateful to have Joy as part of the Tribute family and proud to celebrate her as our September Employee of the Month. Congratulations, Joy, and thank you for everything you do for our Memory Care residents and the entire Tribute community!
